I love travelling. Anyone who knows me knows I enjoy seeing new places, trying new food, learning new languages, and discovering little cultural nuances.
But lately, I’ve realised something. People don’t really look for me. It’s always, “When are you coming to [insert location]?”
I didn’t mind that before, but recently those messages have started to feel a little annoying. Even when I travel to visit people, I still end up being the one making all the plans. Like, were you not the one that invited me? Why am I still the one organising the hangout?
I also have a home, a life, and a city I love. When are you coming to visit me? Don’t I deserve a visit too? Maybe I’m aging faster than I thought 😂 but truly, Sassy needs a visit too. No?
And before anyone feels attacked 😅, a big shout-out to the two friends who actually do make the effort. You know yourselves, and I appreciate you deeply 💛
Reflection
Travelling has taught me so much about people, connection, and self-awareness. It’s easy to be the one who’s always moving, exploring, and showing up, but sometimes it’s okay to pause and ask for reciprocity. Friendships, like travel, should go both ways.
So, if you have a friend who’s always on the road, maybe it’s time you plan a trip to them. Trust me, they’ll appreciate it more than you know.
